Mourning for Prof. Dr. Gudrun Kammasch

It is with great sadness that the IGIP announces the death of its long-standing member of the Executive Committee, Gudrun Kammasch, on March 17, 2024, after a long and patiently endured illness.

Gudrun Kammasch was a co-founder of the IGIP and inspired the work of our association from the very beginning with the topics that were close to her heart: women in engineering, the combination of practice and theory through laboratory didactics, the principle of sustainability in engineering.

It was a logical consequence for us to award Gudrun Kammasch the highest honor the IGIP can bestow in 2021: The Nicola Tesla Chain for International Excellence in Engineering Education.

Gudrun Kammasch was closely associated with engineering education until the end and tirelessly promoted the idea of education and not only the education of engineers.

We will remember Gudrun Kammasch as a highly committed scientist and colleague with great expertise and a warm heart.
